DHV supports the Department of Traffic and Shipping (DVS) in the fields of noise, air quality, soil and climate. The purpose is to reach high quality and a short run-time for infrastructural projects. Special to this framework contract “Support point GBLK” is the cooperation with the Directorate General of Public Works and Water Management: consultants of DHV and DVS make one team.
The preservation of the environment is taking up an increasing important place within our society. The various environmental aspects also take up a more important part in the plan studies. Furthermore, the laws and regulations are becoming more complex. The aspects of air quality, noise and soil have full attention and the next aspect (climate) is knocking on the door.
High quality specialist knowledge for these environmental aspects in relation to planning for infrastructural projects is essential for DVS. It is essential to minimize the risks, to shorten the run time (“right first time”) and at the same time respect the environment.
Combination of products and services
By way of the Support Point (Steunpunt) GBLK a great number of products and services in the field of support and planning advice are being combined. DVS strives to regiment the quality of the advice. The goal is to shape and streamline the advice procedures. Ultimately the combined outsourcing will decrease the administrative burden for the Ministry of Waterways and Public Works .
DVS asked DHV to support them with the running of the Support Point, and the answering of questions of Directorate General of Public Works and Water Management on the various environmental aspects. DHV, together with their partners Movares and Gezond Verkeer, has an excellent knowledge position in the field of the required environmental aspects in relation to planning studies.
Services of the Support Point
The services of the support point are divided up in five departments, one front office and a back office for each of the environmental aspects. The front office canalizes the questions to the right back office. The back office concerned answers the questions.
Anticipation on new laws is an important part of the respons. For example the consortium under the guidance of DHV is involved in the development of new methods of determining for nitrogen depositions en with the practical test regarding the application of the Noise Production Ceilings (GPP’s).
