Helle van der Roest holds a master degree in Civil Engineering (Delft University) and is leading expert water treatment. He has been employed by DHV since 1984. As a (senior) specialist he was involved in many waste water-, manure-, and sludge treatment projects. Comparative practical research in the fields of household- and industrial sludge drainage contributed to his growing international reputation. Under Helle's direction, important innovations and developments evolved such as the Membrane BioReactor and the international award winning Nereda® technology. Helle knows how to link his expertise and knowledge in the field of water to topical social and sustainable issues in projects such as 'the water nursery' (spacial planning combined with waste water treatment) and 'Green Gas' (sustainable energy: waste + water = energy).
Helle has written more than 300 publications (Dutch) and is much in demand as a speaker and trainer in his field of expertise.
