DHV unveils its Dutch Mountain

DHV came up with its project to build a mountain at sea after a challenge issued by author and journalist Thijs Zonneveld in the Dutch newspaper Dagblad de Pers. The fledgling project has been dubbed 'Bergen in Zee' because of its proximity to the seaside town of Bergen aan Zee and because bergen is the Dutch word for mountains.

The project stands as a source of inspiration for taking plans for The Dutch Mountain a significant step further. The project is worldwide unprecedented in its scale and complexity. DHV's initial emphasis in this inspiration document is on the sustainability aspects and numerous benefits of Bergen in Zee.
