In recognition of efficient project implementation, the Asian Development Bank has awarded three project teams belonging to the Emergency Disaster Damage Rehabilitation (EDRP) Project for best performing in 2010 in Bangladesh. DHV supervised the design and construction for rehabilitation works in the water sector, under the Bangladesh Water Development Board.
The EDDR Project was jointly executed by the Local Government Engineering Department (LGED), Roads and Highways Department (RHD), and Bangladesh Water Development Board (BWDB) and was awarded this prize for "achieving highly satisfactory results within the loan period".
ADB Country Director Thevakumar Kandiah presented the prizes to the winning project teams at a ceremony held at ADB's Bangladesh Resident Mission (BRM) on 13 December 2010. "The awards were given to recognize effective project implementation through delivery of results, social and environmental safeguards and gender mainstreaming", he said.
The best project recognition program, initiated in 2001, is part of an ongoing effort by ADB to continuously improve the development effectiveness of the ADB-assisted projects in Bangladesh.
The EDDR (Sector) Project helped rehabilitate rural infrastructure, roads, bridges, and water resources and municipal infrastructure damaged by the 2007 cyclone and twin floods.
