NPC joins DHV

The consultancy and project management firm NPC joins consulting and engineering firm DHV. NPC, formerly an independent unit of NS, has been able to expand its business to include clients beyond NS and the Netherlands over the past several years. NS plans to focus more on its core business, and NPC still has its expertise available to them in the future. The transfer of NPC to DHV will substantially strengthen DHV’s national and international position in the railway (stations) sector. The transition took place on March 1, 2009.

By joining DHV, NPC will be more capable to realize its goals and potential market expansion. NPC has been active in the national and international railway sector for the last thirteen years and became one of the leading consulting organizations in the development and design of railway stations and their surroundings. In 2005, the firm also became active in the healthcare market. As part of DHV, NPC will be able to offer more extensive services to its rail and healthcare clients. Additionally, NPC will also have the opportunity to export its railway expertise through DHV’s international network of companies.

DHV aims to strengthen its position in the transportation and area development markets, and with NPC’s activities, the company makes a substantial leap forward in the specific area of railway station expertise. Vic Prins, Managing Director of DHV’s Environment and Transportation business group, comments: "NPC’s knowledge complements DHV’s expertise and strong position in the areas of train stations, airports, healthcare facilities, and spatial planning. Joining DHV provides NPC staff with more opportunities to engage in interesting new projects and develop their careers."

NPC, which consists of 130 employees will keep its five branches which are close to its principal clients, ProRail and NS, and will continue to operate in the market under its own name. Rudolf Mulder, DHV's Director of Transportation, will be the managing director.
