The Business Parks Quality Scan provides insight into the current and potential quality of business parks. The scan also provides suggestions on how to attain the potential quality. The Business Parks Quality Scan has already been used 50 times, in the provinces of Overijssel and Noord-Brabant, and it has proven its value in discussions on restructuring. The scan has been designated as a nationwide model project by the Dutch Ministry of Housing, Spatial Planning, and the Environment.
The Business Parks Quality Scan answers the following questions:
- Which star rating do the selected business parks receive in the baseline assessment?
- Which potential star rating fits in with the business parks?
- If the potential of the business park exceeds the star rating resulting from the baseline assessment, which steps must be taken to achieve this potential star rating?
1, 2 or 5 stars?
The Business Parks Quality Scan takes the form of a baseline assessment. The parks are assessed by means of 32 sub-criteria, grouped in five main themes:
- Spatial layout and image quality
- Facilities and services
- Environmental performance
- Economy
- Organization and management
Per criterion, a business park receives a rating of one through five stars. Based on that score, public and private organizations may enter into agreements over possible improvements. Not every business park strives for five stars.
Stichting Keurmerk Bedrijventerreinen
The assignments that have already been performed have shown that the “star system” yields very useful information for businesses as well as authorities. The goal is to monitor the scanned business parks every two or three years. The Business Parks Quality Scan has been integrated in the Stichting Keurmerk Bedrijventerreinen (Business Parks Quality Mark Board).
