Airport buildings need to fulfil specific requirements regarding functionality, efficiency, sustainability and architectural distinctiveness. NACO by defining these requirements and converting them into designs for a complete package of buildings required for the operation of an airport. The result is user-friendly buildings with sufficient capacity and built-in flexibility to cope with new developments.
Many aspects differentiate airport buildings from other public or commercial buildings. Airport terminals have some similarities with other transportation nodes, such as railway stations or ferry terminals. However, they are unique due to stringent requirements regarding safety and security.
Our consultants combine state of the art technical expertise and hands-on experience gained in a multitude of completed airport projects around the globe. We create architectural designs that express the ambitions of the airport in its cultural setting. In addition to airport terminal buildings, we design air traffic control towers, cargo buildings, MRO hangers, VIP terminals and any other airport facilities.
Functional design
Our designs are based on our knowledge of operational processes (passengers, baggage, aircraft ground services, cargo, immigration, security, passenger services etc.), resulting in functional solutions that increase the efficiency and user friendliness of the building.
Capacity optimization
Airports are facing the challenge of accommodating traffic growth while having limited possibilities for expansion. Capacity can be optimized by redesigning airport processes and improving the functional airport lay-out.
Airside interface
Critical for all buildings is the interface with the operational airside. Our architects and civil engineers work closely together to resolve all interface issues.
For airports with frequent services to the USA we provide specialized services related to the pre-clearance process.
Passenger Flow Simulation
We perform computer simulations of complete airport terminals, as well as specific airport functionalities, such as check-in facilities, security procedures, gate allocation or the baggage handling process. Simulations using ARCport ALTO software helps identify bottlenecks in the process, allowing evaluation before actual implementation.
